FREE EVENT FOR THE COMMUNITY

The triathlon is for youth ages 6-14 and combines swimming, biking, and running in an exciting paced format that promotes fun, fitness, and self-confidence. Race distances are age appropriate. The swim portion takes place in the YMCA pool. If needed, participants will be provided a flotation device and assistance in the lane. After completing the swim, the triathlete runs to his or her bike, puts on a helmet and shoes to ride the bike course. At the end of the bike course, the triathlete will run or walk the rest of the race on the 1/2 mile community walking path around the soccer field and is cheered on as they cross the finish line!

All participants receive an event T-shirt and a medal at the awards ceremony on the YMCA Splash Pad for the entire family to enjoy.

RACE DAY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Check in begins at 8:00 AM
  • Take bike and helmet to bike station located behind the pool at the splash pad and place shoes on splash pad for transition
  • Tri-athletes must be on pool deck ready to begin at 9:00 AM
  • After swimming event, athletes will exit pool through door at the entrance to the splash pad, put on shoes and begin the bike portion of the race
  • Athletes will park bikes when finished riding and run down the steps and across the covered bridge to the walking path for the final running event
  • The finish line is at the covered bridge
  • Water and bananas will be at the picnic shelter when the athlete completes the race
  • Awards ceremony at the splash pad when all participants have finished

The first number marked represents the number of laps to bike around parking lot
The second number represents the number laps to run around the walking path

COURSE LENGTHS

Ages 6-8
Swim 25m (1 length of pool), Bike ¼ mile, Run ¼ mile (1 lap around ½ of walking path)

Ages 9-11
Swim 50m (2 lengths of pool), Bike ½ mile, Run ½ mile (1 lap around walking path)

Ages 12-14
Swim 100m (4 lengths of pool), Bike ¾ mile, Run 1 mile (2 laps around walking path)

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Bathing Suit, goggles, towel, socks, shoes, bicycle, bike helmet, shorts & t-shirt

The safety of all participants of the Kids Tri At The Y is incredibly important to us. During the event, the majority of the campus will be blocked off and parking will be limited. All areas of the YMCA will be closed with the exception of the Fitness Center until 12:00 PM.
